On this page
This guide explains how to activate Addons (Behavior Pack & Resource Pack) on a Bedrock server so they are detected correctly and run without errors.
Note
Overview#
Make sure the addon files have been extracted and are no longer in .zip or .mcaddon format.
Steps#
Step 1: Upload the Addon to the Server#

- Open the Files menu.
- Go to the folder that matches the addon type:
resource_packs→ for Resource Packsbehavior_packs→ for Behavior Packs
- Upload the addon files.
- Extract / Unarchive the files.
- Delete the archive files (.zip / .mcaddon) when done.

The addon will not activate until it is registered to the world. Go to the following folder:
worlds/default/
Create a new file as needed:
world_behavior_packs.jsonworld_resource_packs.json
Step 3: Fill in the JSON Format#
Use the following format in the JSON file:
[
{
"pack_id": "UUID-ADDON",
"version": [1, 0, 0]
}
]
If you are using more than one addon, use the following format:
[
{
"pack_id": "UUID-ADDON-1",
"version": [1, 0, 0]
},
{
"pack_id": "UUID-ADDON-2",
"version": [1, 0, 0]
}
]
The UUID and version can be found in the manifest.json file inside the addon folder.
