Reset World

Generate a fresh world for a Java server.

On this page

Resetting the world deletes the current world and generates a fresh one. All builds, items, and player progress are lost.

Caution

This action is **permanent and cannot be undone**. You must create a **backup** first if you want to keep the old world. See the [Backup & Restore](/en/guides/game-panel/backup-restore) guide.

How to Reset the World#

  1. Stop the Server#

Open Console and press Stop. Wait until the status is Offline.

  2. Open the Backups tab → Create Backup. Name it, e.g., old-world, then run it.

  3. Delete the World Folder#

    1. Open the Files tab.
    2. Find the folder named world.
    3. Click the three dots next to the folder → Delete.

For servers with separate dimensions, also delete world_nether and world_the_end.

  4. Start the Server#

Open Console and press Start. The server generates a new world automatically.

Rename the World (Alternative)#

If you do not want to delete it, you can rename the world folder to world-backup, then create a new world folder. This keeps the old world without downloading it.

Verify#

Once the server is up, join and make sure you spawn in the new world. Check the console log to ensure there are no errors during world generation.
