Grant Operator Access (OP)
Give players admin command access.
On this page
Operator (OP) is a privileged status that gives a player access to administrative commands such as /gamemode, /give, /tp, and more. This guide applies to both Minecraft Java and Bedrock.
Caution
Only grant OP access to people you trust. A player with OP can alter the world, hand out items, and even ruin your server.
How to Grant OP#
Through the Server Console#
- Log in to the server panel and open the Console tab.
- Type the following command and press Enter:
op <playername> - Replace
<playername>with the name of the player to grant access to (letters must match exactly).
Through Chat (If Already OP)#
If you already have OP, type in chat:
txt
/op <playername>
Revoke OP Access#
Type the following command in the console:
txt
deop <playername>
Bedrock Edition#
On Bedrock, OP is stored in permissions.json. The easiest way is still via console: type op <playername>, then run /save-all to persist the change.
Verify#
After granting OP, ask the player to run /help. If the administrative command list appears, access is active. If not, make sure the player name is spelled correctly (case-sensitive).
