Can't Connect (Connection Refused)

Fix when the server cannot be reached by players.

On this page

Connection Refused appears when the Minecraft client cannot reach the server. The message usually reads "Connection refused: no further information" or "Can't connect to server". It means nothing is accepting a connection at the target address/port.

Causes & Fixes#

  1. The Server Is Offline#

The most common cause. Open the panel and check the server status in Console. If it is Offline, press Start and wait until Done appears in the log.

  2. Wrong Address or Port#

Check your server IP and Port. Make sure players type IP:Port correctly (mind the colon : vs a dot). Find the address on the panel's main page.

  3. The Server Has Not Finished Starting#

Large servers take time. Wait until the log shows Done (x.xxxs)! For help, type "help" before connecting.

  4. Port Not Open (Allocation)#

If you added a new port, make sure the allocation was added in the Network tab and the server was restarted.

  5. Node Under Maintenance#

Check Arqonara Status. If the node is under maintenance, wait until it recovers.

Still Failing?#

  • Try connecting from another network (e.g., mobile data) to rule out a local network issue.
  • Make sure a local firewall/VPN is not blocking the port.
  • Open a support ticket and attach a console screenshot and ping/traceroute results.
