Allowlist (Enable & Disable)
Restrict the server to registered players.
The allowlist in Bedrock is the same as the whitelist in Java: only registered players may join. It is enabled through the allowlist.json file.
Note
Changes to `allowlist.json` are **only read when the server starts**. After editing, **restart** the server.
Enable the Allowlist#
- Open Console and type:
allowlist on - Add players:
allowlist add <nameOrXUIDorPlayer> - Verify:
allowlist list
Disable the Allowlist#
Type in the Console:
txt
allowlist off
Via the allowlist.json File#
Manual alternative:
- Open the Files tab →
allowlist.json. - Add player names (with JSON format), e.g.:
json
["Steve", "Alex"] - Save and Restart the server.
Tip
For a private server, combine the allowlist with `online-mode` and a password. See also `server.properties` (`allow-list=true`).
Note#
Caution
Bedrock uses **XUID** for certain players, but writing the player **name** is usually enough. Make sure the spelling matches exactly.
